NC CARES COVID-19 Sandhills CAP's Offices are CLOSED to the public; but we are still here to help by telephone, email and on this website. Additionally, there are pick-up and drop box stations at all locations. Please call your local office for assistance. We're working hard to provide assistance during and after this extraordinary health event; so please let us know your needs by emailing us at Info@sandhillscap.org or clicking on the "CARES NC COVID-19" tab above.

Section 8 Mainstream Voucher Applications will be accepted from eligible households that contain at least one non-elderly (18-61), disabled individual, beginning Monday, January 13, 2020. Please note that ONLY 30 Vouchers were awarded, therefore assistance is limited. The Section 8 Waiting list is CLOSED to other households. If your household contains at least one non-elderly, disabled individual and you applied in December 2018, you DO NOT NEED TO RE-APPLY.

S.T.A.R.S. Self-sufficiency Program

The objective of the CSBG/STARS Self-sufficiency Program is to assist low-income, unemployed or underemployed individuals achieve financial stability thus enabling them to become self-sufficient. An array of services are offered to strengthen the family's financial well-being. The basic purpose of the program is to stimulate a better focus of all available local, state, private and federal resources toward the goal of enabling low-income families and individuals to attain the skills, knowledge and motivations to secure the opportunities needed to become fully self-sufficient.

Our Mission:

Sandhills Community Action program, Inc. maintains a mission to develop viable approaches aimed at generating an improved quality of life for low-income people. Continuous efforts are made to generate the needed support to improve the prospects for self-sufficiency and independence and to end hopelessness and homelessness.

OUR PROGRAMS

Sandhills Community Action Program continues to conceptualize, develop and implement comprehensive solutions to the problems of low-income people, by responding to their needs and helping them to realize their full potential. Currently the following programs are offered:

Section 8 Housing choice Voucher Program (Rental Assistance for low-income households)
Section 8 HCV Family Self-sufficiency Program (Employment and Asset Building)
CSBG Self-sufficiency Program (Education and Employment assistance)
Jackson Terrace Apartments (Affordable housing for Seniors 62 and up)
Single Family Rehabilitation (Home Rennovations for low-moderate income seniors)
Housing Counseling (Counseling for any housing need including homeownership)
